Key Points On This Page
- The ratio of Omega 6:3 is predictive of your rheumatoid arthritis inflammation levels.
- To master this part of your RA healing strategy we need the data. It’s just like monitoring our c-reactive protein for our inflammation levels.
- What we measure improves. But unless we know the ratio we cannot get clarity on how much work we have to do.
- Combined with a diet that is optimised for inflammation reduction you will get tremendous results.
- Get your fatty acid test kit and get started 👍 Home test kits for Omega 3 are now available. Here is information on the one that I use: http://www.rheumatoidsolutions.com/omega-3

Hi, Clint here!
Something that I do is take an Algae Omega 3 supplement. The reason I do this is because the studies have shown in patients with rheumatoid arthritis that the ratio of omega 6 to omega 3 of our cell membranes corresponds to inflammatory levels in patients. What does this mean? It means that when we take our omega 6’s and omega 3’s as a ratio, which may be something like 5:1, 10:1, or 20:1, meaning this 20 times as much omega 6 as omega 3 in your cell membrane. The higher the number, the more symptoms, the more C-reactive protein, and the more disease activity. So it’s crucial to reduce that number. My number is 4.5:1. How do I know that? Because I test it.
I test my ratio on a regular basis, it’s proportional to symptoms. Knowing that my 6 to 3 ratio is really, really low, I know that I am far more protected against inflammatory events. Having a low omega 6 to 3 ratio also means that you can eat higher fat foods. You can take in more omega 6’s in things like nuts or seeds if you wish to eat them and enjoy them without having as much reaction and concern about an inflammatory response.
I had to look long and hard to find out how to get these home tests. These used to be very expensive. Years ago I looked into this and trying to get an omega 6 to 3 home test was going to cost in the order of 4 or $500. Now you can get these for about $100 and you can do the test at home. It takes about as long as one of those home COVID tests. It’s just a little blood prick on your finger like you do when you’re a diabetic and you’re testing your blood glucose levels, and then you send it off and you get the results in about 7 to 10 days. So I’ve been doing that now for a while and it’s been fantastic. They also have a product that is excellent that I take, so the product I take from Omega 3 is the same company. It made sense to me to get the test and the oil from the same place.
That’s what I do. I have seen people I work with who are highly inflamed to have big numbers. The most recent person was yesterday she had 27:1. She’s on methotrexate, Prednisone just really, really highly inflamed, 27:1. The average Westerner, when I say Western people in developed countries from 20 to 50 to one. This is a very high-risk scenario, and what they recommend, not just for rheumatoid arthritis patients, but for the general population, is an omega 6 to 3 ratio of 4:1 or 5:1. I believe with RA we should be trying to get it to 3 to 1. And studies have shown that when that is achieved, there is a dramatic reduction in symptoms.
If you’re interested in the same product that I take, click on the link below to take you through to a page that I’ve set up. It’s been a little bit of a workaround for me to be able to get the links for everyone around the world. I’ve done that now and you’ll be able to do the same thing. If you want, I found it very, very helpful and I’m recommending it to all the people in our support group. I hope that helps. Have a wonderful day. Life is better when you’re healing. You can do this. Go for it.
